Özet:

Dış ticaret dengesi ve ekonomik büyüme ilişkisi literatürün önemli tartışma konularından biridir. Bu çalışmada ekonomik büyüme ile dış ticaret dengesi arasındaki ilişki, Türkiye İstatistik Kurumu (TÜİK) ve Dünya Bankası verileri kullanılarak incelenmiştir. 1990 ile 2016 yılları arasındaki ithalat, ihracat ve ekonomik büyüme verileri Granger nedensellik, birim kök ve korelasyon testleri kullanılarak incelenmiştir. Yapılan testlerin sonucunda ekonomik büyüme ile dış ticaret dengesi arasında çift yönlü bir ilişki olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Korelasyon testine göre ise bu ilişkinin negatif yönlü ve çok güçlü bir ilişki olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Diğer bir ifade ile Türkiye’de ekonomik büyüme artışı dış ticaret açığını arttırmaktadır.

Abstract:

The relationship between foreign trade balance and economic growth is one of the most important topics that discussion in literature. In this study relationship between economic growth and foreign trade balance is analysed by using Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) and World Bank data. Import, export and economic growth data between 1990 and 2016 is examined using Granger causality, unit root and correlation tests. As a result of the tests conducted, it was found that there is a bi-directional relationship between economic growth and foreign trade balance. As a result of correlation test, it was found that this relationship is negative and very strong. In other words, the increase in economic growth increases the foreign trade deficit in Turkey.
